The “Nuclear Power right after Fukushima: Issues and Possibilities” keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Gail H. Marcus. Dr. Marcus will offer an overview of how the Fukushima accident has altered nuclear power operations and development about the globe. Some of the significant safety issues raised by this incident will be identified, and probably impacts on operating plants will be explored. Particular attention will be given to identifying achievable technologies options to help address longer term nuclear power development plans. Dr. Marcus is an independent consultant on nuclear power technology and policy and previously worked as Deputy Director-Common of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency in Paris Principal Deputy Director of the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy, Science and Technology in different positions at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and as Assistant Chief of the Science Policy Research Division at the Congressional Investigation Service. Dr. Marcus has served as President of the American Nuclear Society and as Chair of the Engineering Section of AAAS. She also served on the National Investigation Council Committee on the Future Demands of Nuclear Engineering Education. Dr. Marcus has an S.B. and S.M. in Physics, and an Sc.D. in Nuclear Engineering from MIT. She is the 1st woman to earn a doctorate in nuclear engineering in the United States.

In addition, technical presentations will be delivered by the French Atomic Power Commission as well as three US national laboratories such as Brookhaven National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. A number of prestigious universities from around the globe and private corporations will also be represented on technical plan.
