San Diego Renewable Energy Society Provides Middle School Students Exciting Solar Education with Sullivan Solar Power

Published by fnever on June 7th, 2012 - in Knowledge Base

San Diego, CA () June 01, 2012

Our next generation will decide the future of a sustainable planet, and one organization is facilitating the education necessary to allow kids to understand how renewable energy systems work. The (SDRES) has partnered with local middle schools and teachers to make learning about science fun with an innovative solar scholastic program, the Junior Solar Sprint.

The Junior Solar Sprint is a hands-on educational program that gives students the opportunity to design, build and their own solar powered model cars. There are approximately 45 teams across five different San Diego middle schools that will be participating in the Junior Solar Sprint . This collaborative initiative allows sixth, seventh and eighth grade students to work in teams and use unlimited ingenuity. Awards are given to winning student teams not only for the fastest speed in the drag , but also for design and innovation.

?The multi-disciplinary project motivates students and illustrates how pursuing careers in the fields of science, math, and engineering can be exciting and highly rewarding particularly when applied to renewable energy sources,? said Bruce Rogow, coordinator of the event for San Diego Renewable Energy .

This is the third annual Junior Solar Sprint that SDRES has hosted in conjunction with Sullivan Solar Power and the San Diego Electrical Training Center. Locally headquartered Sullivan Solar Power has donated the solar kits to power the students? cars for the past three years. The San Diego Electrical Training Center is the where the event has continued to be held, appropriately so, as San Diego?s most qualified electricians get their training at the Center. The facility also serves as an educational venue for kids with the 90kW rooftop solar installation.

?Junior Solar Sprint teaches our local youth in their formative years the potential that solar power represents for our country,? said Daniel Sullivan, founder and president of Sullivan Solar Power. ?It shows teens we can power our vehicles, homes and businesses with the power of the sun. The hope is to inspire these young individuals with education in solar but also make it something exciting in the process.?

Local science teacher, Elaine Gillum, has 137 students at Marshall Middle School that are producing 24 solar racing cars as a part of the Junior Solar Sprint program. She has participated in the initiative since SDRES started the program. ?Kids learn about solar energy, engineering, building and team work,? said Gillum, ?All of those are very important for our students to learn. And, they learn it doing something fun! How cool is that??

Gillum says that she has seen the program change kids? lives. She cites one young man, Alex, who had failed just about every class he’d taken in eighth grade and the previous two years. While “school” classes were tough, the teen could work with his hands. He helped his team construct a wonderful car. Because of Elaine Gillum?s observations, the vice principal was able to get the youth into a high school that has a special construction school and the student is doing terrific as a freshman. ?He literally found something he was good at, for the first time at school, and bloomed,? said Gillum, ?For many of the kids construction and building are not something that are a part of their lives. This is the first time some have ever held a screw driver!?

The Junior Solar Sprint race will take place on Saturday, June 9 at 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the San Diego Electrical Training Center, at 4675 Viewridge Ave., San Diego, CA. For more information, visit http://www.juniorsolarsprint.com.

43 States Align to Showcase Power Savings, Tax Relief and Large Solar ROI In the course of 16th Annual ASES National Solar Tour

Published by fnever on October 1st, 2011 - in Home Solution

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) September 30, 2011

Thousands of home and enterprise owners from 43 states are taking it to the streets to discover the ways solar-savvy Americans are recouping their tax dollars, improving property values, slashing utility bills and producing jobs for the duration of the Solar Energy ?s (ASES) 16th Annual National Solar Tour, the world?s largest grassroots solar event.

The event capabilities open house tours of -efficient homes and companies that are bringing their owners ample economic and environmental rewards. With higher panel efficiencies, lower cost tags, versatile and a treasure trove of domestic industry incentives, these days?s solar solutions are as a lot an economic play as an environmental one.

?From Alaska to Florida and another 41 states in between, this cascade of solar tours leaves little doubt that with 100,000 workers employed by practically 5,000 firms, the spirit and job-developing prowess of solar is alive and nicely in America,? said ASES National Solar Tour Manager Joel Moore.

?Sure, there are market disappointments like recent solar headliner Solyndra,? continued Moore, ?but as 1 of the fastest growing business sectors in America, solar is bringing substantial economic advantages to properties, companies and public agencies across the nation. Truth is, in 2010, America was a $ 2 billion net exporter of solar merchandise. That?s the type of headline we?re operating to see far more of.?

The tours ? made probable by Enphase Power, Trina Solar and Delta Energy Systems — give customers a glimpse at the assortment of solar solutions available in these days?s marketplace, from conventional roof-mount, vertical solar and developing-integrated PV to , gazebos — even solar trees that fuel electric vehicles.

?We?re in the business of solar, but we?re also in the organization of educating. That?s what this tour is about,? said Mississippi Solar?s Carolyn Hegman, whose Down on the Farm solar tour is becoming a perennial favorite. ?There are so numerous myths we?re battling, like there?s not sufficient sunshine to make solar viable ? or that solar is just a fad. But solar can genuinely adjust the life of a poultry farmer, who has astronomical electric bills, particularly during hot Mississippi summers,? she stated. ?So far, production has exceeded our projections.?

Not only do most solar solutions qualify for a 30% federal tax credit, many states supply cash incentives to decrease the costs of solar for houses and companies.

Further contributing to the solar ROI illustrated throughout the tour is a current study out of the University of California San Diego that finds roof-best solar panels don?t just supply clean power, they shelter household rooftops, keeping them five degrees cooler in summer and warmer in the winter. This cuts down on year-round cooling *and* heating expenses.

And the U.S. EPA reports in the Appraisal Journal that a residence?s value increases by $ 20 for each and every $ 1 reduce in annual electricity bills. Homeowners who install solar on existing houses get almost three times the premium of homeowners whose new home came adorned with solar.

“These tours are an powerful for folks interested in solar to see very first-hand how solar works, even though speaking with licensed, qualified specialists who can educate them on installation processes and the several incentives today’s solar PV, solar water heating and energy efficiency solutions deliver,? stated tour host and Chair Steve Johnston.

?Numerous of the solar-equipped properties on this year?s tour are seeing electric bills decreased by 80 to 100 percent,? Johnston added. ?It?s a prudent investment that brings homeowners, schools and businesses economic and environmental returns for decades. It?s also a win for our contractors and installers. You can?t, after all, export a solar installation job.?

ABOUT THE SOCIETY: Established in 1954, the non-profit Society (ASES) is the nation?s 1st of solar professionals and grassroots advocates. Supported by far more than 10,000 members, ASES advances investigation, education, and policy. ASES publishes the award-winning SOLAR Nowadays magazine, presents the National Solar Conference and leads the National Solar Tour ? the globe?s largest grassroots solar event. http://www.ases.org.

What is anger?

Published by fnever on August 10th, 2011 - in Knowledge Base

We all have anger. Fairly a common statement coming from someone who walked about with anger for a long time. Do we all have anger? Truly?

Ok we get angry often but do we ‘have’ anger? All of us? I don’t feel so. If we did and if anger is a poor thing then do we have to accept it as who we are and then pass it on to our children?

I am talking here to you about internal anger. The anger we carry about. The cancer of the that manifests in our eventually. When your cries out and you ignore the cry, then the ultimately talks by means of your body in all kinds of illnesses.

How did we invent this anger? How does it come about?

We live in a society that claims to know it all. Yes we have all the answers. Nicely fantastic. Then we ought to be best right? No difficulty does not have a answer. We have them all. Then what about the difficulty of not solving our difficulties when we have the solutions?

What is anger actually?

Anger is what we were born with. It is a really   that we have for manifesting our reality. If we know how to use it we can produce real magic and miracles for ourselves. Anger is expressing who we are and what we want with intent. It is the driving of intent. Just as we can summon any quantity of love we choose, we can also summon any amount of anger we pick. We use that anger to get issues done. To say what we feel wants to be stated. To let ourselves out in some form of of who we are. It does not necessarily have to be violent but it is effective. Because we do not know that and our parents by no means knew how to teach us that, anger became a really poor factor in our society.

In a sense you can say that anger is the power of expression. So when you get angry then ask your self? What is it that I want to say or do? What is the here? Where do I aim to go with this feeling? Then you let it out. See in your angry mind the outcome you would like to have. Then manifest it in your mind with anger and in your physical globe begin working on a systematic approach to bring that about. Anger drives you into action like a burst of power. Use that energy to do what needs to be done. But behind all of this remains your loving self. The actual you. Observing your self obtaining angry and going about it in the greatest you can come up with.

Anger really should spur you into motion. When you really feel it coming up use it. Give it positive directions. Pick a direction that would bring a desired . Move toward a remedy. Use it as the driving force behind your intention to solve a circumstance in a correct manner. Topple the apple cart and rearrange the apples.

 What to teach our youngsters.

Our youngsters need to know that anger is allowed. They have this power like we do and they do not know how to let it out. We want to teach them how to use this power instead of just exploding. Like a Chernobyl reaction plant we can bottle the power up and explode or we can let the energy flow and nurture the world about us. The planet is moving forward. If we bring our youngsters up the very same way we had been bought up then we are going to have a family of retards who got stuck in the past although life moved on. They want to discover to channel their anger into constructive solutions. They need to have to live out their anger within a framework of what is allowed and what not. So what do we allow? That is the key.

We grew up like small Chernobyl nuclear power plants. Not allowed to express anything at all and then exploding from time to time and causing wonderful havoc and injury. We need to have to enlighten on that in a constructive manner. So the question is.  What do we allow and what not? I believe that, that is where parenting comes in. Our kids hit the road running and they are going to continue running no matter whether we like it or not. The only thing we can do is to direct their course. To guide them in the correct direction so they do not run into other men and women and obstacles. But telling them not to run is futile.

What do we want for our kids and how are we going to get that for them? Discipline is good. But mindless discipline? Our kids are not stupid. “Because I say so.” does not cut it anymore. We cannot put them on hold and we can not pause them anymore. We cannot shop them or put them away until we have time for them. We can discipline them to respond to becoming put on hold with sense. We can explain to them that the time they chose is not a excellent 1 and that they will have to learn to wait until we are ready to deal with them. Then it is not mindless anymore. Then they know they are not dealing with outright rejection but rather poor timing.

Then it moves on to our own discipline to live up to our promises. If we stated later then when? If we don’t live up to our promises we teach them betrayal. How can we anticipate them to trust us when we let them down by not living up to our promises? What are we teaching them through example?

Honesty coupled with discipline is the most effective combination in self realization. You can only function on actual issues. If you produce imaginary reasons for getting who you are, you will never get to the bottom of  it. First you lie to others until lying becomes such a habit that you begin lying to yourself in order to steer clear of being responsible for who you are. Then you start off believing those lies.

Then one day you wake up and say “what the hell is going on?” “ Why is my life not working out for me?” Then you commence fixing the issue. Oh yes the difficulty. Ha ha. The lie you mean. Simply because the real issue lies buried beneath a complete lot of myths we produced to justify our bad behaviour.

Soon after a couple of years of  working on the lies we maintain asking ourselves. “When is this enough?” “I keep working on myself and my life to fix problems but it’s not acquiring me anywhere.” Hopefully you wake up to the large lie and uncover the genuine problem to work on and get some genuine outcomes before you die.

Do we want this for our kids? Do we want them to be happy or do we want them to run about attempting to fix ghosts in futility? Do we want them to Tippex the personal computer monitor or do we want them to discover how a computer works?

Honesty is not just reality. Honesty is also doing what you said you would do simply because if you don’t do it then you prove that you lied. Teaching your children that integrity is not all that critical.
